Greece’s dominant online food ordering platform, efood, has reported a record-breaking financial performance for 2024, achieving €35.8 million in net profits and a 17% profit margin, translating to €17 in net earnings for every €100 in revenue.

According to its annual financial statements, efood, owned by giant Delivery Hero, recorded a 29% increase in revenue, reaching €211 million compared to €163.8 million in 2023. Over the past decade under German ownership, the company has maintained double-digit annual growth, consistently exceeding €208 million in turnover.

The company’s profitability also continued its upward trajectory, with pre-tax earnings at €46.8 million (up from €41.2 million in 2023) and EBITDA at €46.4 million. Net profit grew by 13%, from €31.8 million in 2023 to €35.8 million in 2024.

Growth drivers: Platform commissions, and marketing

Commissions from orders climbed by €29 million to €136.2 million, reflecting increased transaction volume through the platform. Marketing services revenue rose to €42.3 million from €36.4 million, as more partner stores utilized promotional tools within the app.

Originally founded in 2013 and sold to Delivery Hero in 2015, efood has evolved beyond food delivery into a comprehensive logistics and consumer platform. It employed 725 full-time staff in 2024, down slightly from 742 the year before. Today, efood works with over 21,000 stores across 100 cities in Greece.
