Conrad Athens The Ilisian opens on April 23, bringing the former Hilton back to life as one of Athens’ largest urban redevelopments in recent years after more than €340 million in investment from TEMES and the Olayan Group.

The project turns a closed landmark into a mixed-use destination that combines luxury hospitality, branded residences, dining, wellness and members’ club facilities in the heart of the Greek capital.

The hotel sits at the center of The Ilisian, which features 307 rooms and suites with Acropolis views, and room rates start at about 600 euros a night in April. TEMES and Olayan have kept the building’s mid-century identity intact, preserving the signature façade created by artist Yiannis Moralis while modernizing the interior into a more layered urban resort.

Luxury layers

Beyond the hotel, the development includes 18 Conrad Residences and 37 Waldorf Astoria Residences on the upper floors, extending the project into the residential market. The wider complex also includes restaurants, conference facilities, wellness and fitness areas, retail units and the House of NYNN members’ club, which began operating in summer 2025.

That broader concept is meant to make The Ilisian a self-contained destination rather than just another hotel. The project also carries a meaningful employment footprint, with up to 800 direct positions expected once the complex is fully operational.

The redevelopment marks a shift from the old Hilton model toward a multipurpose urban asset. Gastronomy will be a major draw, with nine bars and restaurants planned across the property, including the return of Galaxy, a new fine-dining venue, Japanese and Mediterranean concepts, and a refreshed version of Byzantino.
