Greece is positioning itself as a serious outsourcing destination, ranking 46th out of 193 countries in the Ataraxis Global Outsourcing Talent Index. That places the country in the top 24% worldwide.

The country’s strongest advantage is a rare mix of English proficiency, digital readiness and cost competitiveness. Those three factors are helping Greece stand out at a time when companies are looking beyond traditional outsourcing hubs.

Stronger than bigger economies

Greece outranks France, Germany, the United States, Japan and Singapore in the study’s overall ranking. It also comes in ahead of Spain, Italy and South Korea, as the country is competing not just on cost, but also on capability.

One of Greece’s biggest strengths is language. The country’s English proficiency score of 90 out of 100 puts it in the same tier as countries often seen as top outsourcing hubs.

Digital infrastructure and cost

Greece also scores well on digital infrastructure, with a 70 out of 100 rating. That compares favorably with several major outsourcing destinations and supports the country’s ability to handle remote and technology-driven services.

Labor cost is another advantage. Greece’s 79 out of 100 labor cost score puts it well ahead of Northern and Western European economies, where higher wages often make outsourcing less economical.

The study suggests Greece still has room to improve. If its labor cost score moved from 79 to 90, it could rise to around 18th place globally, putting it in the top 10% outsourcing markets in the world.

Asia and Africa, top destinations for outsourcing

The Philippines ranks #1 globally for outsourcing suitability, followed by Malaysia, as six Asian countries rank in the top 20 global outsourcing destinations in the Ataraxis Global Outsourcing Index.

Seven African countries sit within the global top 25 outsourcing destinations, Romania ranks #10 globally and is the highest scoring European country for outsourcing competitiveness, and Switzerland ranks #188 out of 193 countrie, due to extremely high labor costs.
