Greece’s 39 airports welcomed 9.28 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, a 7.6% rise from 8.62 million in Q1 2025, according to Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) data. Aircraft movements grew 6.8% to 80,122 flights.
The 24 HCAA-managed regional airports, Heraklion, Kalamata and others, saw 12.5% growth to 769,866 passengers. March alone jumped 16.8%, led by Heraklion’s 18.8% surge to 189,317 travelers.
HCAA sites handled 11.98 million passengers in 2024, up 8%. Fraport Greece’s 14 regional airports carried 36 million, up 6.4%. Q1 2026 follows 2025’s full-year record of 79.4 million passengers across all airports, up 9.3%.
Athens International Airport hit a record 31.85 million last year, up 13.1%, as Greece’s tourism season is set for a solid start in 2026, with the airport planning 30.5 million international seats for the summer, up 8.3% from 2025.
