Athens Airport passenger traffic rose 8.4% in December 2025, capping a strong year

According to preliminary data released by Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” International Airport (AIA), total passenger traffic reached 2.31 million in December, marking an increase of 8.4% compared to the same month in 2024.

Growth was recorded across both domestic and international segments. Domestic passenger traffic rose by 5.5% year-on-year to 628,000 passengers, while international traffic posted a stronger increase of 9.6%, reaching 1.68 million passengers.

Total passenger traffic amounted to 33.99 million passengers, up 6.7% compared with 2024. International travel remained the main growth driver, with passenger numbers increasing by 8.6%, while domestic traffic registered a more moderate rise of 2.2%.

Aircraft movements also followed an upward trend. In December 2025, a total of 19,476 flights were recorded at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport, representing a 6.5% increase year-on-year. Domestic flights increased by 4.2%, while international flights rose by 7.7%.
