American carriers are substantially expanding their presence in the Greek market this summer, with a notable increase in transatlantic flight capacity reflecting strong U.S. demand for European travel.

A total of 103 weekly direct flights are now scheduled between the United States and Greece—a significant jump from 82 in the same period last year and nearly double the volume seen five years ago, TTW reports.

Key highlights of the expansion include a new nonstop service from Los Angeles to Athens operated by Norse Atlantic Airways, alongside boosted frequencies on existing routes from major U.S. hubs such as New York, Atlanta, and Chicago.

Delta Airlines extended some of its Greece-bound services into the winter season. American Airlines and United Airlines have similarly prolonged their schedules, now offering direct service through November.

This surge in transatlantic flights comes as American travelers continue to demonstrate robust confidence in leisure spending. According to MMGY Global’s April 2025 survey, 83% of U.S. adults plan to take leisure trips over the next 12 months, a modest dip from 87% in February.
