With border queues eliminated following Romania’s entry into the Schengen Area, Thassos is preparing for a surge in Romanian visitors. Local business representatives estimate that the Greek island will welcome approximately 250,000 Romanian tourists in 2025.
Among the island’s most visited spots are Golden Beach and Paradise Beach, both famed for their fine sands and crystal-clear waters. Romanian travelers are also drawn to the island’s culinary offerings, favoring traditional Greek dishes such as moussaka, souvlaki, and fresh seafood served in charming village tavernas.
The average budget for a one-week stay on Thassos Island ranges from €500 to €800 per person, covering accommodation, dining, and recreational activities. This figure has seen a steady rise in recent years, as more tourists opt for premium experiences including boat tours, island excursions, and local wine tastings.
