Jumbo opened 2026 with solid momentum, reporting a 7.3% increase in total sales for the first quarter and about 10% growth in March alone, but the group’s regional picture remains mixed.
In Greece, March net sales at the parent company rose about 18% year on year, with first-quarter net sales up around 11%, while Cyprus posted a 4% increase in March and in the quarter.
Bulgaria continued to outperform with March sales up roughly 12% and first-quarter sales up about 11%. Romania, by contrast, remained under pressure, with March sales down about 5% and the first quarter down roughly 4%, a pattern that fits the tougher consumer backdrop.
Jumbo is still leaning on asset-light expansion where possible, and the Bucharest deal at Military shopping center shows the company’s preference for acquiring already operating leased sites when it can improve long-term efficiency and control.
As of December 31, 2025, Jumbo operated 89 own stores in four countries, the most in Greece, 53. Through franchise partnerships, it operates 43 additional stores across seven countries, including Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Israel.
