Greek consumers are heading into this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday with stronger buying intentions than ever, according to early findings from the EY Future Consumer Index Greece 2025, a study conducted in partnership with MRB and Choose Communications.
Almost 63% of respondents said they plan to make purchases during the discount season, a sharp rise from 50% last year. The two big retail events fall on November 28 (Black Friday) and December 1 (Cyber Monday).
The 30–39 age group shows the strongest shopping intent, with 76% planning to buy during the sales period. Last year, the most eager group was 18–29-year-olds. At the other end, only half (50%) of consumers aged 50–64 intend to shop.
Tech tops the wishlist
Technology and electronic devices dominate planned purchases, cited by 68% of consumers (and 77% of men). Clothing and accessories follow at 61% overall (and 68% among women), followed by personal care & beauty – 32%, and home & kitchen goods – 26%.
But skepticism remains. 45% of participants question whether advertised discounts truly reflect lower prices, though this concern is less common among younger shoppers (32% in the 18–29 bracket). Another 30% note that products they actually want are rarely included in promotions.
Despite their doubts, 81% of respondents have postponed certain purchases specifically for the Black Friday–Cyber Monday period, and at the other end, 13% admit the spending pressure makes them feel tired or anxious.
