Firefly is NIO’s new brand for high-end compact EVs, a small, intelligent electric vehicle tailored for urban users. It was globally unveiled in December 2024 and sales started in China in April 2025 before gradually entering overseas markets.
This month, the brand announced that deliveries are now rolling out in the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Denmark and Greece. Locally, Motodynamics Group is the partner for NIO and Firefly sales.
Firefly was introduced as a brand with the goal of bringing smart, stylish and enjoyable electric cars to a broader audience, particularly urban drivers seeking technology, comfort and everyday usability without the size and cost of bigger EVs.
The debut vehicle under the Firefly brand is a compact 5-door electric hatchback. Despite its small footprint, the car packs a number of impressive technical features aimed at balancing performance, range, efficiency and usability.
Firefly has a rear-mounted electric motor producing 105 kW (≈141 hp) and 200 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h takes up to 8.1 seconds, as top speed hits 150 km/h (≈93 mph).
The car is equipped with a 42.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery sourced from Sunwoda, with a range up to 420 km CLTC range, translating to roughly 330 km (WLTP) in more realistic mixed driving conditions.
Firefly is 4,003 mm long, 1,781 mm wide, 1,557 mm tall with a 2,615 mm wheelbase, it has a front trunk (frunk) of 92 liters, and a rear cargo of 335 liters standard, expanding to over 1,250 liters with rear seats folded.
The car has a 13.2″ central display and a 6″ digital instrument cluster, powered by NIO’s in-house computing architecture, heated front seats, panoramic sunroof options, wireless charging, and premium audio system.
It is equipped with a suite of driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, advanced parking assist, and blind-spot cameras, many features not always standard in this segment.
