AEGEAN says demand for Easter travel remains strong this year, with average seat occupancy on its flights above 75% across both the domestic and international networks. Some routes are already running above 85% full, particularly abroad, while passengers continue to book early for the peak holiday period.

The carrier’s data show a clear shift in demand toward short-haul leisure destinations, with Greeks focusing mainly on Iberia, Morocco and the Scandinavian countries after cancellations rose on some Middle East routes because of the war.

That pattern fits a broader European Easter market that is also tight this year, with aviation intelligence group IBA estimating record regional Easter capacity of about 25 million seats, up 1.6% year on year.

Busy routes from Athens

From Athens, AEGEAN says the busiest international destinations are Stockholm, Helsinki, Bologna, Luxembourg and Bilbao, while the domestic top five are Karpathos, Samos, Alexandroupoli, Leros and Ioannina.

The airline also expects domestic traffic from Athens to surge by about 82% on Maundy Thursday, while international flights peak on Easter Monday with occupancy near 87%.

Thessaloniki runs hot

Thessaloniki is shaping up to be even busier on the international side, with AEGEAN expecting Easter Monday occupancy on outbound and inbound foreign routes to reach around 96%.

Domestic flights from the city are also forecast to be strong at about 72%, with the top international destinations listed as Barcelona, Brussels, Milan, Larnaca and Rome, and the main domestic ones as Kos, Santorini, Lemnos, Rhodes and Mykonos.
