HELLENiQ Renewables has taken operational control of two solar farms in southern Romania, boasting a combined installed capacity of 58 MW. The parks, located in Teleorman and Olt counties, are now grid-connected.
Once fully ramped up, the facilities are projected to generate enough renewable energy to meet the annual needs of around 60,000 households, bolstering Romania’s green transition.
These assets mark the first fruits of a 2023 deal with METLEN for four photovoltaic projects totaling 211 MW in Romania. The remaining two sites, packing 153 MW, are slated for commercial operation in 2026, while a 96 MW onshore wind farm in Galați county is targeted for Q2 2027 completion.
Thus, HELLENiQ’s total installed renewables capacity in the country sits around 300 MW. It’s Romanian renewables portfolio already exceeds 850 MW, blending solar, wind and battery storage projects in various stages of development.
